The human race has been free from violence for over ten thousand years. The gene that was thought to have caused such behavior has been engineered into extinction. Every record of the gene and the violent behavior it caused has been censored and locked away. Possession of any data of that period in history is deemed illegal and the consequences extreme.
Kutch has acquired some of those data files while infiltrating the databases of his employer known only as Corporate, the sole owner of most of the mapped galaxy. The ancient data was so unbelievable that he filed it away as nonsense. But while on the job as Coroner, he found himself staring at a dead man that could only be explained within the context of that illicit information--murder.
Reporting the death of the unknown victim as anything other than normal to Corporate Security would only incriminate himself and his internal Artificial Intelligence implant named Li to their own illegitimate activities. The burden of knowing the truth consumes his every waking thought and evokes ever more frightening dreams.
Kutch and Li embark on a search for answers that leads them to unlikely friends, more confusing questions, and a race toward the unknown as he discovers that the one they seek to stop from killing again will stop at nothing to kill Kutch and Li next.

Amazing!!! A whole new concept of a look into the possible future of mankind. I have read 4-5 books a month since I was 10. At 63 I thought I'd seen every possible approach to Sci-Fi. Mart T. Bacome proved me wrong. The book was exciting, well written, and smooth flowing. A real Page turner. After reading a third of the paperback, in one sitting, I decided this was one I wanted to preserve in my library. So, I downloaded it on Kindle and put the original away for safekeeping. I finished the book in three days and am currently, anxiously awaiting, Hereditary Evil. Thanks Mark for a GREAT read.Product details

So after a while of being pestered to read this book, I finally broke down and read it. Once I started reading I had to start finding time in between doing other things to continue reading the book. If you enjoy a good sci-fi thriller, you definitely need to pick this up.
Kutch is a "regular guy" on the surface, but he has something which very few others possess in his time, an insatiable curiosity and a penchant for learning about ancient history (especially things which are strictly forbidden by "corporate" policies).
With the help of his AI (Li), Kutch spends most of his free-time systematically gathering any scraps of information they can find about the (dead) planet earth. Things get sticky when several other groups get hot on their trail. Kutch and Li's life will never be the same as they discover the truth behind the official corporate history.
The author, Mark Bacome, develops his characters in a realistic human way that takes you along for the ride. This series will pull you in and set your imagination ablaze.
This was a light and fun read with lots of action to keep you entertained. Looking forward to the next book.
Cannot wait for the next book. The cast is great the plot is very interest and it is fast read too.

This book took me by Surprise! After reading Science Fiction my entire life I didn't think there was any new ideas left. Mark sheds a few new looks into the future of mankind. A very accomplished story line and well written for a author fresh out of the gate. My only regret is waiting for the next book in the series to tie up the clif hanger ending of this one. Bravo Mark!
