The frozen pirate William Clark Russell Books
Set in 1801, this is another enthralling seafaring tale from William Clark Russell and, for me, one of the best. Written in his wonderful descriptive style (1887), The Frozen Pirate is a story of adventure, intrigue, danger, uncertainty and abject fear with the totally believable – yet unbelievable character of a pirate and his ship that have been frozen in Antarctic ice for 50 years. If you have ever sailed into the high latitudes, you will know it is like stepping into another world, as captured in Clark Russell’s prose – the intensity of the cold, the isolation, the explosive cracking of icy fissures and the sounds of the sea raging in the Southern Ocean.
It might sound crazy and pure fantasy but the way the story reads will have you turning the pages and not wanting it to end.
I am definitely a devotee of this author and highly recommend his works.

The frozen pirate William Clark Russell Books Reviews
An absolutely entertaining book for the pirate and sailor in all of us. I couldn't put this book down. It makes your pirate imagination run wild.
A great book that I would highly recommend to any fan of pirate lore. Written in 1877 it is filled with a style of the English language which no one speaks today and of which we are worse off for its lose. Definetly a well written book. My only critique is that the chapter titles often act as a type of spoiler, giving away what is about to happen. But the book is still very much worth reading.
This book I ordered on when I got it I couldn't belive it was so thin then when I opened it I could see why the print was so small it was impossible to read I had my sixteen year old son look at it and his eyes are great he laughed and said they got ya on this one dad ! It might be a good book if one could read the small print!
The Frozen Pirate is a rollicking good time. Sure the science is out there, but who cares! A frozen pirate and what happens to him, survival trapped in the ice, treasure, that makes a good story. Admittedly, the dialogue is a bit dated at the end, but that's forgivable and there clearly is no malice. The protagonist is an interesting narrator - I disagree with him at times, but that's fine also.
Well worth picking up a free copy.
This is a book from the days of sail. I enjoyed it and was surprised that the author explored a thesis of life after suspended animation. This is farfetched for us almost two hundred years after his time. So he was way ahead of his time and their scientific possibilities. It is an exciting, quick read.
I think there were times the story was over discriptive and explainng too much. I did enjoy it anyway. I had wished the end would have described more about what happened. But, it just stopped. I enjoyed reading it at any rate
William Clark Russell was a prolific (57 novels) and gifted English writer whose command of written descriptions creates imagery that puts you in the story. The Frozen Pirate, written in 1887, is basically a shipwreck story that entertains the concept that we now refer to as cryonics or the long term preservation by freezing. The story starts slow in the first few chapters and then the reader becomes caught up in the plot of being shipwrecked in freezing waters. The central theme revolves around the challenge of survival. Russell uses nautical terms from the time of sailing vessels but this is done in such a way that it adds to the story rather than create a work that is not readable by land lovers. Filled with suspense, adventure, heroism, some humor and a plot that is not all that predictable, I recommend this book both to adults and teens. I plan to read more by this writer.
